Pindar in the community

A family tradition

Historically, the Pindar Organisation has been heavily involved with the local community through the governance of Scarborough as Mayor and Alderman (George Kyte Grice Pindar). More recently this work has continued with our Lifetime President, Tom Pindar. Tom has been a champion of the development of Scarborough through his work with the town team, and has been a governor of several schools and colleges including the Pindar School and has supported St. Catherine's Hospice.

This family tradition carries on today, Tom's daughter Margaret Lumby is a Pindar School Governor and Caroline Pindar has worked very closely with the St Catherine's Hospice as part of the rebuild management team.

Pindar is one of the largest local employers. To continue the legacy of the Pindar family, in helping develop a better quality of life for the local community, our community involvement plan focuses on the notion of creating well-balanced, socially integrated, young people who are able to take responsibility for their actions and reactions. We hope to help them realise their true potential, through the teaching of emotional intelligence and the development of teamwork through sport.
