Progress in our sponsorship

We are delighted with the success of our sponsorship of Scarborough Rugby Club and the way it has developed. Since the initiative started in May 2005, considerable progress has been made in expanding youth rugby in the local area. All primary and secondary schools have been given the opportunity for pupils to receive training sessions from Junior Tupai, the Youth Development Officer. Originally, six schools responded with approximately 60 children taking part in previous training sessions and festivals. The success of these rugby festivals has seen a doubling of attendance with, 10 schools and over 100 children now be taking part and enjoying the training. These sessions will run throughout the coming months for school children around Scarborough, concluding with a series of rugby festivals. The club is also pleased to announce a new initiative which will involve an extra festival to cater for the increased interest in rugby for girls in April. The idea of these training sessions is to give children the opportunity to see how much fun and enjoyment can be had by pupils playing rugby. These plans add to a substantial list of future develpments for the club "We have an U17 and U15 team and this year we introduced an U13 team. We are in the process of establishing another U13 team next year as the other teams move up an age group. It is hoped that we can introdue a new team every year at the U13 age group and ensure we have a team in every age group" Junior Tupai, Youth Development OfficerOther proposed plans by the SRUFC for redevelopment will involve: - A new club house with over 200 parking spaces.
- A sports hall.
- Gym facilities.
- 4 full size pitches and 2 of which will be fully floodlit.
- 4 mini pitches.
Pindar's efforts in providing sponsorship will help assist the club in their quest for future talent and will ensure a viable future for the club itself. BackgroundThis unique initiative focuses on promoting both male and female rugby within the region through the appointment of Junior Tupai, Youth Development Officer. A key part of Pindar's sponsorship is helping to ensure that local children have better access to kit, coaching and support. The youth development officer will work with local schools to encourage and enable as many youngsters as possible to gain exposure to rugby and hopefully continue to play.
