Mills and Hughes crowned Women's 470 Junior European Champions

Hannah Mills and Katrina Hughes were yesterday crowned Women's 470 Junior European Champions. The girls competed in breezy conditions at the Championships in Medemblik, Netherlands, this week. Leading the entire fleet – men included – to the first windward mark of the final race yesterday, in up to 30 knots of wind, Mills and Hughes fought off competition from the Dutch and Belarusian teams to take Gold in the Women's competition.

For Hannah Mills, 19, and Katrina Hughes, 17, of Cardiff and Leigh-on-Sea respectively, 2007 is their first season sailing together in the Olympic 470 class. Mills and Hughes are one of Britain's top women's 470 teams.
