Moving the office without dropping the ball

Wow, we did it!
With excellent planning and all staff pitching in to ensure the relocation ran smoothly, we managed the complicated task of moving and re-establishing a high-tech office in only one weekend.

In the end production staff were only out of operation from midday Friday to midday Monday and by Monday afternoon we were all at our desks working in our stylish new offices.

When your job requires constant close reading and detailed computer work, it's good to be able to rest your eyes on a distant view. And when you're working in Auckland, the city of sails, there's no better view than the beautiful harbour, which has welcomed sailors and provided a recreational space for 150 years.

In a city where the majority drive to work the move was also considered in the light of the environment. Now on the main bus routes more employees can catch the bus or cycle to the office rather than use the car.

The new Pindar NZ offices occupy the top floor of a refurbished inner-city building and provide better facilities for both our customers and our people. The back wall of the office is entirely glass and looks out onto the top of Waitemata Harbour. The name means 'sparkling waters' and they were certainly sparkling at the launch of the premises on 17 March, organized by our marketing department.

All Pindar's key customers and many of our suppliers attended the launch, including the publishing director of Penguin New Zealand and his team, respected New Zealand authors, and the head of BPANZ, the trade association of New Zealand book publishers and distributors. Pindar NZ staff and guests toasted the beginning of a new era of complete publishing services. Everyone left excited about the company's future projects, growth and direction.

What some of the visitors said:

"Thank you for inviting us to your premises unveilling - what a coup to have found such a wonderful place. The wine and food were delicious and the speeches the best."
Christopher and Louise, Johnstone Associates

"What an amazing new office. Congratulations to all involved. The interior is so like New York - until you look out west and see the harbour, hills and setting sun. So Auckland."
Stephen Stratford, Write Right NZ

As of 18 March, Egan Reid has now been fully rebranded as Pindar NZ and these offices show to everyone that Pindar NZ is geared up for growth and we're on track to hit targets!
