Sailing Sponsorship

Sailing Sponsorship

Pindar has been capitalising on sports marketing to promote its business over many years. Our very first involvement in the sport of sailing came back in 1980 when Pindar sponsored The North Sea Yacht Race, which started from Scarborough and our head office location.  As a print and electronic media company in a competitive marketplace, we at Pindar have always been keen to differentiate ourselves from the rest.

Over the years, Pindar has been involved in supporting a broad range of sponsorship campaigns, ranging from local community projects, global offshore sailing campaigns and world champion athletes.  These have attracted media coverage from around the globe. Central to each campaign, has been one common theme – enabling individuals and teams who are striving to fulfil their sporting potential, to develop their skills and capabilities on the international sporting stage.

Pindar has been immensely proud to support a wealth of talent who continue to set new goals and push themselves to the limit.  Each initiative offers a unique platform to communicate our core business values, unify Pindar employees and attract new customers and partners.

Our support of Emma Sanderson (nee Richards) who made her name in the 2002-03 Around Alone Race, first began in 1999. Emma is perhaps the sponsorship we are best known for, and as a business we followed Emma’s exceptional ocean racing career with race admiration. More recently we have supported a number of projects in the fields of match racing, skiff sailing, dinghy racing and canoeing at Olympic level as well as ocean racing and other projects closer to home. AlphaGraphics , our industry leading franchise operation, is the first ever title sponsor of the US sailing team. The agreement includes direct financial support for the team as well as visual communications and marketing support for individual team members from U.S. AlphaGraphics locations. It has been particularly exciting to support the team during their recent performance at the Beijing 2008 Olympics

Just as exciting is our support for Brian Thompson, Pindar Skipper, who will be sailing in the Vendee Globe round the world race starting on 9 November.  He will be sailing our recently built Open 60, our first ever build racing yacht, and considered to be one of the fastest boats of its class on the plant.
