Pindar first to adopt England’s only open access ‘Fibre To The Premise (FTTP)Broadband Service
Pindar has become the first private sector company in England to sign up to a high-speed fibre broadband offered by North Yorkshire County Council.
NYnet is a new FTTP broadband connection provided by the council in connection with Yorkshire Forward and is being installed at Scarborough Business Park.
Pindar has seized the opportunity to access the super-fast internet link being offered by internet service provider Save9 in partnership with NYnet.
Alan Dudley, IT manager at Pindar said: "We are delighted with the service NYnet are able to offer us on the Scarborough Business Park. Pindar maintains a high level of response to all its customers, so fibre connectivity is absolutely critical to their operations and essential for meeting customer deadlines. Our business relies heavily on 24/7 uninterrupted remote access for all our customers and we're now able to guarantee this through the NYnet infrastructure.
"The high-speed fibre connectivity is advanced in its technology and we are delighted to be able to utilise it in North Yorkshire, an area previously overlooked in terms of digital inclusion."
One of the services Pindar has undertaken is a Resilient Internet Connection, which forms an intrinsic part of its disaster recovery strategy, ensuring customers can access the Pindar network remotely from anywhere in the world.
David Cullen, NYnet chief executive, said: "We were pleased to be able to offer a solution that enables Pindar to continue to provide high-level service to its customers. Innovative companies like this need to be encouraged to stay in the region and enhance the local economy."
NYnet was formed with funding from the European Union in a bid to ensure North Yorkshire was not left behind in the next phase of the internet revolution.
